NOTE: If, due to unforeseen circumstances, this course is canceled before the class date, the cost of the course will be refunded.

Online Work and Course Key
  • After signing up for the course, students will be emailed a pre-paid course key and activation instructions.
    • The course key and instructions will be emailed around five to seven days before the skills check date. 
    • The information will be emailed to the email address you used to register.
    • The information will be emailed from eLearning.heart.org.
  • After receiving the instructions, students will complete the online portion of the course.
    • Online coursework must be completed before attending the skills check  
  • Students must bring a printed course completion certificate to the skills check session.

  • Students should arrive 15 minutes early for sign-in.
  • Students MUST bring the printed course completion certificate to attend the skills check.
  • Students will demonstrate competency in CPR skills and the subject matter covered in the online course.

Course Information

The American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course is designed for health care providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of the hospital. This training is usually directed toward EMS, Fire, Hospital, and clinical personnel.

This course is designed to enhance the student’s skills in the treatment of arrest and pre-arrest patients through active participation in a series of simulated cardiopulmonary patient core cases.

In addition, students will have an opportunity to work in learning stations while practicing essential skills using guided step-by-step video and instructor-led hands-on practice. The training environment is stress-free and designed to facilitate learning through group participation.

Course Objectives

This scenario-based training is designed to enhance and reinforce important concepts, including:

  • Identification and treatment of medical conditions that place a patient at risk for sudden cardiac arrest
  • Reinforce and enhance good BLS CPR skills.
  • The Basic Life-support primary survey
  • The ACLS secondary survey
  • How to effectively integrate CPR and AED usage during advanced-level resuscitation, including medication administration
  • Recognize early signs of stroke and deliver appropriate patient care.
  • Proper usage of basic and advanced airway techniques such as endotracheal intubation along with the use of the supraglottic airway.
