what does the honor guard do?
EHP has one of the only EMS Honor Guard teams in the state of Michigan. The Honor Guard represents EHP and performs Honors Ceremonies at public events and functions.
The main purpose of an Honor Guard is to stand watch over and honor our fallen public safety brothers and sisters. The EHP Honor Guard also represents the organization at events including parades, retirements, and formal ceremonies. Honor Guard members are trained in drill and ceremonial techniques and protocols, flag etiquette and color guard, and funeral protocols.
Honor Guard Event Response:
- The Honor Guard usually responds to 15 – 20 events each year.
- Most events are planned and require 2 – 3 team members.
- A funeral response can require 2 – 4 team members or a whole team activation. A team activation involves planning the ceremonies for the funeral as well as the day of response.
