Leah Garavaglia

Senior Paramedic/Community Paramedic, Huron Valley Ambulance

Leah has served with Huron Valley Ambulance since 2019. She began her EMS career in 2011 before earning her paramedic license in 2017. During her four years at HVA, she has been promoted to Senior Paramedic and Field Training Officer and now serves as a Community Paramedic. Before working in EMS, Leah was a CNA for 4 years, fostering the care and empathy she has for those she serves.

Leah is a skilled paramedic known for her versatility in the field. As both an emergency paramedic and a Community Paramedic, she may find herself resuscitating a patient in cardiac arrest and then, on the next call, providing in-home care to a chronically ill patient, all within a single shift. Leah has a passion for prehospital care and always works with her patient’s best interests in mind.

Leah is known for her upbeat, charismatic personality and her can-do attitude. She has a positive reputation among her coworkers and patients and is a sought-after partner among her peers. Leah is passionate about working with and training new EMTs and paramedics, and she wants all new employees to have the tangible skills necessary to be successful EMS practitioners. Leah also cares about the emotional needs of her colleagues, teaching her peers the importance of decompressing after difficult calls.

Outside of work, Leah is an energetic person with many passions and interests. She loves spending time and traveling with her family. She’s a dog lover, a Jeep girl, and an avid reader who clocks in at 300 books a year! Leah is also working toward becoming a yoga instructor with the hopes of coaching EMS providers through difficult situations using relaxation and meditation techniques.

Leah, we are very fortunate to have you on our team. You are an excellent example of a caring, compassionate provider and a patient-centric paramedic. Thank you for all you do and for being part of HVA. We are proud to recognize you as a Star of Life.
